What better day to sign up for a hot chocolate run than National Hot Chocolate Day!? We are super excited that registration is now open for the Philadelphia Hot Chocolate run to benefit Make-A-Wish. The race will be held April 6th of this year. The starting location of the race is the Eakins Oval in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum and runners can sign up for one of 2 waves. The first wave begins at 6:45am and the second shortly after at 7:30am.
Registration comes with an awesome goodie bag including a full zip jacket with a hood. Sizes can be exchanged at the race expo to make sure you get the perfect one for you! Runners who finish the 15k get an awesome finisher medal that looks exactly like a real chocolate bar. This medal might give you some serious chocolate cravings, but don’t worry there will be plenty of chocolate at the race to go around (even for those who aren’t running).
Sweet stations will be set up along the course so you can grab some after the race or start snacking mid-way through! These delicious gluten-free packs come with hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and marshmallows, pretzels and M&Ms to go with it. The chocolate served at the race is so popular, they typically serve 4,000 pounds of melted chocolate per race! You will definitely be filling your sweet tooth.
If you’re more excited about the running than the chocolate, there’s plenty to look forward to about the course. Starting by the art museum, the course for the 5k continues on towards City Hall and Reading Terminal Market before looping back around. The 15k race stretches out beyond that loop along the Schuylkill River trail for gorgeous views of the city. For competitive runners, check out www.hotchocolate15k.com/philadelphia for more information on previous winning times to see if you can beat that time.
Lastly, we are looking for volunteers to help us out on race day! Volunteers are an essential part of race day and we encourage you to sign up to help out. You can register to volunteer either as an individual or part of a group at this link.
Registration for the run does not directly support Make-A-Wish, so all donations and fundraising are greatly appreciated as we approach the organization’s goal of $20,000. Donations can be made online through Hot Chocolate 5k’s website at this link: https://www.hotchocolate15k.com/philadelphia/give/charity
Hope to see you there!
