The Convoy raises funds to allow children to Go to their dream destination, Meet their hero, Be their hero or Have the one item they’ve always desired like a treehouse or puppy! One of the major fundraising components comes from the truck drivers themselves. Some of the drivers begin fundraising as soon as the last Convoy ends. Make-A-Wish also raises funds through the auction, selling food or other products, and from our generous donors.
The Mother’s Day Truck Convoy gets a lot of media coverage giving people more awareness for the organization’s mission. Last year, the Mother’s Day Truck Convoy was covered on major local channels throughout the Lancaster area.
Making Smiles, Creating Memories
One of the most obvious reasons that the Mother’s Day Truck Convoy helps Make-A-Wish is by giving us the chance to make our Wish Children and their families, smile for a day and allow the family the chance to be a family. The very first Truck Convoy was for a Wish child, named Matt, who wanted to ride in a big truck and talk on the CB Radio. Since then, it has become a community-wide event in are which all Wish children throughout the Chapter are invited to participate and ride in the trucks. This year is no exception, as we are anticipating more than 100 Wish Children joining us on Mother’s Day to have the opportunity to ride and be a part of the Convoy. It is truly a moment that is memorable and fun for all!
