2016 WALK BLOG #4 - Navigating the Participant Center

You’ve started your team and begun fundraising! Now, here’s how to work the participant center to get the most out of your team’s efforts!

We know being a team captain in charge of fundraising can be tough, so in this #WalkWednesday post, we want to help you get the most out of your experience. After logging in to the participant center, you can immediately see your fundraising progress and goal. Before you ask others to join your team, you will want to update your Personal Page so your team can see why you want to fundraise! After clicking on the tab “Personal Page” at the top, you will be able to see the template message that is provided for each individual signed up for the walk. You can keep this message as your description, or you can personalize it to portray your goals and reasons for fundraising—just remember to press “Save” at the bottom when you are done. What you do with this page is up to you!

Another way to motivate your team is to create and update your Team Page.  By clicking on the tab “Team Page” at the top, you will be directed to another page with a description message. Again, you can keep this template, or change the description to something that will motivate your team more. You can even upload a photo of your team by clicking on the “Choose File” button, selecting a photo, and then saving it with the “Save/Upload” button. This page is a great way to communicate your team’s message and reasons you Share the Power of a Wish®.

All team captains know the importance of motivating team members! If you want to gauge interest of other members that are not yet registered on your team, you can send emails by clicking the “Send Emails” tab at the top of the page, and then entering their email addresses by separating each address with a comma. Then, you can either use the templates provided by clicking on one of the four options (Thank You, Recruiting, Solicitation, or Other), or you can write them a personalized message.  Emailing your teammates or prospective members is a great way to keep the fundraising moving!
