A nice day is all that’s really needed to get friends out and about; and there’s no limit to the kind of activities that could bring some out fun outside for a good cause! Try “Fun-draising in the Park” – invite family, co-workers, school events, any opportunity to get people out and about. They’ll all be heading out to enjoy the sunshine after this long winter anyway, why not get together for a good cause?
First of all, nothing brings people together like food. A few water coolers may be all you need to lure park goers over to your tables. And a bake sale might be all that’s needed to keep them there! A few pitchers of homemade lemonade, brownies, or cookies – you could even get fancy with pies, finger foods, or BBQ. Cheap, homemade foods that no one will mind buying for a good cause (and they get some sweets out of it!)
Everyone loves to get together and eat, but being outside in the park offers even more space to spread out and toss a ball around, play a few game of horseshoe or corn hole … why not organize a few things yourself? A jar full of cotton balls that has people donating to guess and win a donated prize or even a human fruit machine! Have three volunteers each with a bag of fruit pulling out apples, oranges, bananas or pears, and party goers can pay to take a “spin” where the volunteers all randomly pull a fruit from their bags. A matching set wins! Have winners get a donated prize or part of the pot. If you know one -- or a few -- friends with cuddly pups invite them to bring them around for some affection! Everyone stops to pet a happy dog, so why not give him a cute “$ kisses” sign – maybe even make them a little booth out of a simple stand up box!
No one needs an excuse to get together, eat, and unwind with friends in co-workers but why not give them one anyway? Enjoying yourself on a sunny day outside has never looked better than when it’s benefitting more than just yourself!
