Although Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Northern Delaware, & Susquehanna Valley’s® Walk for Wishes® may seem far away, summertime is the best time to gear up for fundraising! What better way to fundraise than outdoors with family and friends? In this blog, we’ll be giving you tons of ideas to keep you FUNdraising.
As July 4th is fast approaching, it’s a great time to have a neighborhood block party! You can put together an old-fashioned block party in a parking lot or neighborhood street, while having fun with games, face painting, and music. After a BBQ cook off against friends and neighbors, or an ice cream social with fun desserts or frozen yogurt, you could get donations by charging an entrance fee or selling tickets! Party on!
While some of your neighborhood friends are leaving to go on summer vacation, offer up your services to babysit, petsit, or mow their lawn. Check with your friends to see when they are going on vacation and plan ahead of time. You can use your pay as a donation to Make-A-Wish!
Another FUNdraiser for your whole neighborhood is the Flamingo Yard Fundraiser! After acquiring plastic garden flamingos, you can “land” them secretly in their garden, and leave a note with an explanation and contact details. That garden or yard’s owner then has to donate a fee ($5 for example) to have the flamingos removed. They can also donate a higher fee to have them removed and “flown” to one of their friend’s yards. This is a very fun way to get everyone in your neighborhood involved for weeks or months!
