Friday Night Lights. Take advantage of knowing when your town will be getting together to cheer on your football team, and make it a FUNdraising night by creating a tailgate that benefits Make-A-Wish® . You could charge a $3-5 cover fee, and ask volunteers to bring or make food. With food and lawn games, your whole town can come together and fundraise for a great cause before enjoying the game!
Halloween Costume Sale. A Halloween Costume Sale is a great way to fundraise, while also emptying out your attic. Go and find your old Halloween costumes, ask your neighbors to do the same, and sell them at your school as a 2nd-hand shop. Everyone can sell their costumes with the proceeds benefitting Make-A-Wish, and you could even find a new costume for this year!
Focus on Community. When you can involve the community, you can not only raise money but also share the mission of Make-A-Wish far and wide! Through a school carnival, you can involve all the students and teachers in your school by asking for volunteers to bring in food, desserts, and games. Try having a cakewalk where you can play $3 to play, and the winner of each game walks away with a cupcake! You can charge an entry fee to the carnival, or carnival goers can pay to play any game!
These three options are just ideas to help you brainstorm your own Back-to-School ideas! You can use the rest of the summer to plan, and then execute your idea when you are surrounded with your friends and teachers every day. Don’t forget: Not only are you fundraising, but you’re also helping to share the power of a wish.
