While you may have seen in recent communications that our organization made the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming travel wishes, it is important to remember that this is only a postponement. This does not mean that our vision to grant the wish of every eligible child in our community has been placed on hold. In fact, it is quite the opposite - our wish granting staff is moving forward full steam ahead with the wish journeys of the 450+ children who are waiting. Referrals are still being accepted and we have developed a process with our volunteer wish granters to conduct virtual interviews with wish families to discover their child’s one true wish. We are also working to move as much of our fundraising initiatives online in order to support these wishes.
Our wish kids need us to keep them hopeful now more than ever.
For children who have chosen a travel wish, their journey does not just begin when they board a plane to their wish destination – the power of a wish begins when children learn their wishes are coming true and continues to grow as they anticipate their wish experience. Our team is working around the clock to keep this hope alive for our wish kids and their families throughout these challenging times. Together, we will continue to bring that hope to wish kids, their families and our entire community.
Please know that we are keeping all of our supporters like you in our hearts as we navigate this uncertain path together. We hope that you and your families are safe and coping the best you can. Let us all draw inspiration from the amazing resilience and strength we see wish kids and their families demonstrate daily.
Whenever you’re ready to share your support, we ask that you please keep Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley at the top of your mind. We appreciate your continued commitment, which remains critical as there are more local wish kids waiting now than ever before. Wishes need stars like you.
On behalf of the children and families we serve, thank you for your support. Together, we can give the brightest of days to children in need.
