In 2011 I wished to go to Hawaii with my family. I was diagnosed with Wegener's Granulomatosis, now known as Granulomatosis with polyangiitis, when I was 16 years old. Throughout my treatment I always pictured myself laying on a beach to try to get me through the painful procedures. When I was given the opportunity to do Make-A-Wish I knew I wanted to go to a place where I could actually lay on the beach and soak up the sun with my family! While we were in Hawaii we were given the chance to snorkel, zip-line, take a helicopter tour and of course attend a luau. Before I took the trip I was hesitant that my life would ever get back to normal. However, I am now in complete remission and happily making my way through pharmacy school! I am forever grateful at how Make-A-Wish gave me a positive outlook on life and taught me to always keep fighting.
